Local 765 Bugfest

The Local 765 Bugfest is an annual lobster tournament and community fundraising event hosted in Fort Lauderdale in support of the Fort Lauderdale Firefighters Benevolent. Now in its fourth year, Bugfest has grown into a multi-day event that brings together first responders, local businesses, and community members for a shared mission of giving back. The event includes a kickoff celebration, Captain’s Dinner, tournament day, and awards reception, drawing over 1,000 in-person attendees and thousands more through digital engagement. Participants include firefighters from across South Florida, with expanding participation from departments statewide. All proceeds directly benefit firefighter-focused initiatives, including financial assistance for injured or ill firefighters, fire academy scholarships, youth Fire Explorer programs, and community outreach efforts. Bugfest serves as both a fundraising platform and a meaningful way to strengthen the connection between first responders and the community they serve.
