DESCRIPTION:Emerald Coast Open\nThe Emerald Coast Open (ECO) is the largest lionfish tournament in the world! In 2024\, ECO had 147 participants and removed 11\,844 lionfish despite rough weather – 7\,411 in 2 days! ECO gave away $65\,000 in cash prizes and over $60\,000 in gear prizes.  We are looking forward to an exciting 2025 tournament! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPre-tournament\n\nFebruary 1 – May 15\, 2025 \n\n\n\n\n\n\nParticipating in the ECO pre-tournament is easy for everyone! Simply go out and hunt lionfish. Drop them off at designated drop off locations and you will receive 2 raffle entries for each fish you turn in. That’s it! Hunt lionfish and win prizes! \nRules and more info here \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMain Tournament\n\nMay 16-17\, 2025 \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWin big money and big prizes! DESCRIPTION:ZooKeeper is a proud sponsor of this slaying event!\n2025 St. Croix Lionfish Derby FAQ/Event Info \nMay 16th – 17th\, 2025 \nAwards Ceremony will be held after the hunt at Salt River Marina \nWhat has changed from last year’s derby? \n\nThe Captains Meeting is now taking place at a different location\, Salt River Marina\nThe awards ceremony will now take place on the Saturday after the hunt\nWeigh Stations have been consolidated to one location at Salt River Marina\nThe recreational and commercial divisions have been eliminated\, and everyone will compete for a combined prize pool\nMore prize places are available\, eg. 4th\, 5th\, 6th\n\nWhat has stayed the same? \n\nTeams are still limited to a minimum of 2 and maximum of 6\n32% and 36% Nitrox is still allowed\nTeams can choose to keep their catch after it has been weighed\, recorded and finned\nLionfish tastings at the Awards Ceremony are now included in the registration price\n\nWhen is the Derby? \n\nHunting takes place on Saturday May 17th\, starting at 6am.\n\nWhen is the Captain’s Meeting? \n\nThe Captain’s Meeting will take place on Friday May 16th at 6pm AST.\n\nWhere is the Captain’s Meeting? \n\nNEW LOCATION ALERT: The captains meeting will now be held at Salt River Marina. For other members of the team\, the meeting is optional\, but recommended to ensure all the paperwork is in order. If one member of your team does not sign a waiver\, they will not be allowed to participate in the 2025 St. Croix Lionfish Derby.\n\nWhen is the Awards Ceremony? \n\nSaturday\, May 17th after the weigh in is complete\n\nDo I need to register? \n\nYes\, registration can be completed here.\n\nHow do I register? \n\nUse the registration form above\, and complete the information to register your team.\nEnsure you have your team members names\, a designated team captain\, and all dive certification numbers handy.\n\nWhat is the cost? \n\n$50 per person. Each person will receive a SPF 50 long sleeve sun shirt with their registration.\n\nDo I need to sign a waiver? \n\nYes. After the event organizers have weighed and measured your catch\, you are free to take it home in your own coolers. We will collect all of the data and ensure it is accounted to your team for prize awards.\nFish that are donated to the event will be cleaned and donated to our food vendors who will cook up dishes to try for free during the award ceremony after the hunt.\n\nWhere is the weigh station? \n\nSalt River Marina\n\nWhen do the weigh stations close? \n\nWeigh stations will close at 2pm. Please have your catch in before the cutoff.\n\nWhat if I want to free dive? \n\nFree diving is allowed within the rules of the 2025 St. Croix Lionfish Derby. You will still be required to fill out a waiver and pay the $50 dollar non refundable registration fee.\n\nHow do I know if I am in a protected area? \n\nUse this map from ArcGIS to determine if you are in one of the EEMP’s Protected Areas or No Take Zones.\nUse this map from the NPS to determine if you are in Buck Island National Reef Monument or Salt River National Historic Site and Ecological Preserve.\n\nCan we have a Boat Captain / Surface Support that stays topside the entire derby and does not hunt? \n\nYes\, they will be considered a spectator of the event and will still need to register and sign a waiver. Please include their information during team registration.\n\nCan we have other spectators on the boat? \n\nYes\, you may have additional spectators on the boat who are not participating in the hunt. They will required to complete the waiver.\n\nCan I win first\, second and third prize in a single category? \n\nNo. Per the tournament rules\, each team is eligible to enter one fish in the Smallest category\, one fish into the Largest category\, and their total catch number will be used to determine their place for the Most category. The two fish submitted to Largest and Smallest will be counted in the Most entry.\n\nDoes that mean I can win first in three categories? \n\nYes! DESCRIPTION:FAQs\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow much does it cost to participate? \nIt is $25 per person to join\, which includes access to the Captain’s dinner and an event t-shirt. \nWhat is the grand prize? \n$250 gift card to Spritz City Bistro\, a 2 hour embroidery event from the Palm Beach Embroidery Club\, several gifts from Julia’s Costal Crafts\, a year of coffee from Rolling Hills\, and more prizes to come! \nWhen is the tournament? \nThe event begins at sunrise Saturday May 17th and goes until 7pm. The weigh station will open at 3pm until 7pm where you can bring your catch to be counted and weighed. \nWhen do I get my prizes? \nBy 8pm on the day of the event we will post the winners online. 2pm on Sunday May 18th we will have a prize ceremony at Spritz City Bistro where you can collect your winnings. This is a public event where all are invited.
